Waterproof Grade of Waterproof Glands

When installing the cable, the cable grip connector can be equipped with a waterproof glands for effective watertightness. Waterproof gland adopts waterproof cord grip, as the name implies, the protection grade of water varies. Of course, this gland has grades in the ability of preventing dust or the solid stuffs.

However, the grade of waterproofness of waterproof gland here we are going to talk about is different from the grade of solid stuffs prevention, the waterproof grade here is two times higher than the grade of solid stuffs prevention. The highest waterproof grade mark is 8, which means the second number followed "IP" representing the waterproof grade can be up to 8 at the highest. The following is going to introduce the waterproof grade codes and their meaning:

0: If the waterproof grade marked as this number, which means, the joint is not waterproof at all.

1: This level can only be used to prevent water droplets.

2: This ratio should be based on the case where the casing is inclined at about 15°. Basically, in this case, the dripping of water droplets on the casing has no effect.

3: Even if the water dropped at the angle of 60°, it won't have influence.

4: Even if the water was splashed on the cable, it won't affect.

5: There is no problem with this grade of joint flushing directly with water.

6: This grade can be used in the cabin to accept strong spray water washing.

7: It's okay to soak in water for a short time.

8: It's okay to keep soaking under pressure.

When selecting waterproof glands, the waterproof grade of them must be clearly understood. Of course, if needed, the level of solid stuffs prevention of the gland also should be taken into account.
