The Role of Nickel in Stainless Steel Cable Ties

What is the nickel content in stainless steel cable ties, and what is the effect?

1. The role of nickel in stainless steel cable ties

There are many metal elements in stainless steel cable ties, nickel is one of them. Its existence is to increase high temperature strength and corrosion resistance, reduce the rate of cold work hardening, and make stainless steel ties more practical.

2. The reaction of nickel and chromium in stainless steel cable ties

The role of nickel in the stainless steel cable tie is only played after it is combined with chromium. Nickel is an excellent corrosion-resistant material and an important alloying element of alloy steel. Nickel is an element that forms austenite in steel, but for low-carbon nickel steel to obtain a pure austenite structure, the nickel content must reach 24%; and only when the nickel content is 27% can the steel be resistant to certain media. The corrosion performance changes significantly. Therefore, nickel cannot constitute a stainless steel cable tie alone. However, when nickel and chromium are both present in stainless steel cable ties or stainless steel coils, nickel-containing stainless steel cable ties have many valuable properties.

Based on the above, it can be known that the role of nickel as an alloying element in stainless steel cable ties is that it changes the structure of high chromium steel, so that the corrosion resistance and process performance of stainless steel can be improved to some extent.
